Chopta is an unspoiled natural destination lying in the lap of the Uttarakhand Himalayas and offers views of the imposing Himalayan range including Trishul, Nanda Devi and Chaukhamba. Chopta village is surrounded by forests of pine, deodar and rhododendron and is rich in flora and fauna.

During the trip to Chopta valley, you can take a trek to the nearby region of Deori Tal. Deoria Tal, one of the most beautiful high altitude lakes which are sprinkled all over the Garhwal Himalayas. Deoria Tal is situated at an altitude 2438 mts and is an excellent spot for angling and birdwatching. It is also very famous for the reflection of surrounding snow covered Peaks of Chaukhamba & Kedarnath at dawn and early in the morning.

Another place to visit is Chandrasilla Top trek is one of the popular treks that can be undertaken round the year, in Garhwal Himalayas. Chandrasilla summit is a rock face above the temple of Tungnath, the highest of all the temples of Lord Shiva in the Himalayas. It is a short but rigorous hike beyond the temple. The Chandrasilla summit affords the most beautiful view of the Nandadevi, Trishul, Kedar Peak and Chaukhamba Group of Peaks.

Detailed Itinerary :

Day 00: Arrive in Rishikesh and check into your hotel. In the evening, we will meet all meet for dinner with Retreat presentation of coming days. Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 01: Drive Rishikesh – Ukhimath (1400 mts, 185 kms/6-7 hrs)


After morning yoga session and breakfast, we start the drive to Ukhimath via, Devprayag (Confluence of Alaknanda & Bhagirathi, from Devprayag the Holy River Ganges start), and Rudraprayag (Confluence of Alaknanda & Mandakini River). We stop for lunch enroute. We continue our drive and arrive at Ukhimath by evening. Check into The Guest House. After settling up we visit the famous Omkareshwar Temple of Ukhimath.

Later meditation, dinner and overnight stay in Guest House.

Ukhimath Temple :

This temple popularly known as Omkareshwar Pith is one of the oldest in the country and houses the dieties of Kedarnath and Madmaheswar during the winter months (November to April). During this time the temple of Kedarnath and Madhmaheshwar remains closed. The dieties are brought here from Kedarnath after Diwali and from Madmaheswar in December and worshipped here for six months. These dieties are taken back in a procession to their original temples in mid May.

It is believed that the wedding of Usha (Daughter of Vanasur) and Anirudh (Grandson of Lord Krishna) was solemnized here. This place was named as Ushamath after the name of Usha and is now known as Ukhimath.
Day 02: Trek Ukhimath – Deoria tal (2438 mts, 8-9kms.)


After early morning Yoga and breakfast, we start the trek to The Lake Deoria Tal through dense forest of Rhododendron and lots of wild flowers and ferns. The trek will take 5- 6 hrs to reach Deoria Tal Lake. Upon arrival at Deoria Tal set out the tents for overnight stay. Meditation and Dinner.

Deoria Tal (Lake)

This is a beautiful lake at an altitude of 2438 m. This lake has captivating surroundings with forests all around. On a very clear day the Lake bless the spectators with the reflections of the Chaukambha Group of Peaks on its crystal-clear water. The lake is situated admist lush green inclined field surrounded by lush green dense forest.
Day 03: Layover in the Lap of Himalayas


Layover day in the lap of Himalayas Today is a relaxing day. Yoga plus breakfast then enjoy the high spirits of the Himalayas. Meditation and dinner then overnight stay in tents.

Day 04: Trek Deoria Tal - Sari - Chopta (2900 mts, 13kms.)


Wake up early morning to capture the Beautiful Views of the Peak Kedarnath and Chaukhamba group of peaks with their reflection in the Lake. After morning yoga session and breakfast, we trek down to Sari village (3 kms) and from here we trek to Chopta through dense forest and meadows, with packed lunch. Upon arrival at Chopta set out your tents for overnight stay. In the evening explore the magnificent views of the Himalayas. Meditation

Day 05 : Layover Day


Layover day in the lap of Himalayas Today is a relaxing day. Yoga and breakfast then take the time to enjoy the high spirits of the Himalayas. Meditation and dinner. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 06: Trek Chopta –Tungnath (3680 mts) - Chandrashila (4000mts.)- Chopta


After early morning yoga and breakfast, we trek to Tungnath with packed lunch. Tungnath is situated at the height of 3680 mts from the sea level, the highest Lord Shiva Shrine in India. Enroute we will find lush green meadows and we can see the entire range of snow clapped Himalayas. Upon arrival at Tungnath visit the temple.

After relax we further trek 1 km trek to Chandrasilla Top, which has the magnificient views of the Great Himalayas and with the view of highest peak of India Nanda Devi (7848 mts.). Later trek back to Chopta for meditation dinner and overnight stay.

Tungnath Temple

Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world and is one of the five and the highest Panch Kedar temples located in the mountain range of Tungnath. The temple is believed to be 1000 years old and is the second in the pecking order of the Panch Kedars. Tungnath is reached through a path that wends through alpine meadows & rhododendron thickets. 1 kms steep trek from Tungnath Temple leads to Chandrashila with its panoramic views.
Day 07 : Drive Chopta – Rishikesh (185 kms/7-8 hrs)


After a morning yoga session and early breakfast, we drive back to Rishikesh. Lunch enroute. Upon arrival at Rishikesh check in to the hotel. Evening to be spent in leisure.

Overnight stay at hotel in Rishikesh. Retreat ends.
